Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Our uniquely qualified Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) professionals collaborate with teachers and staff across the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) to meet the diverse needs of students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, promoting educational and vocational success.
Our goals
Auditory Oral DHH Program: Provide intensive listening and spoken language intervention from TK to fifth grade, enabling students with hearing aids or cochlear implants to return to their home districts with strong skills to access the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) curriculum. We want to ensure our D/HH students thrive linguistically, academically, behaviorally, and socially.
High School Total Communication Program: Promote inclusion of Deaf or hard-of-hearing students on a high school campus, using bilingual, multimodal, and multicultural strategies to support their academic and social needs on a diploma or certificate track.
Itinerant Related Services: Ensure access to the general education curriculum for Deaf or hard-of-hearing students by collaborating with IEP teams, providing support and education to site personnel, staff, and parents.
Audiology: Ensure our Deaf and Hard of Hearing students have appropriate auditory access to their educational environments, promoting social, emotional and academic success and inclusion.
